BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project named: Inclusive, Sustainable, and Connected Coffee Value Chain is part of a loan agreed between Olam and ADB to support the company’s activities across Asia. Four separate projects providing working capital investment for smallholder farmers are being implemented in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, PNG, and Vietnam.
The project designed for Indonesia will help coffee farmers integrate into more formalized value chains and the global economy, expanding their production and operations, improving livelihoods by promoting inclusive and sustainable development, while for Olam, improved quality and quantity of production will increase its profitability, which in turn should lead to better farm gate prices. Activities will work with farmers in North Sumatra (Berastagi) and South Sumatra (Lampung) with a distinct but complementary connected set of activities. Landell-Mills has been selected to provide technical assistance in the project’s implementation and is currently recruiting two Regional Coordinators.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Regional Project Coordinators (Berastagi/North Sumatra and Lampung) will be responsible to contribute to the implementation of all project activities and particularly those related to coffee producers in the field. He/she will report directly to the Project Team Leader and will coordinate the work of Field Coordinators based in the coffee regions. He/she will be based in the producing areas of Berastagi and Lampung with extensive traveling across the respective coffee regions where project extension activities will occur (farmers training, Trial/Demo plots, farm inputs distribution, monitoring, and reporting of field data, organic certification, etc…).
KEY REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must have an agriculture background (University level) with at least 3-5 years of related work experience in projects involving agriculture extension in Indonesia (preferably in coffee production). Work experience in North Sumatra and Lampung would be an advantage. The candidate should have extensive experience in organizing and successfully motivating farmers groups and deliver agriculture training. He/she should also have sufficient proven leadership and communication skills (at least a basic understanding of the English language is also an advantage). The candidate must also have basic computer skills in at least Microsoft Office (Word, Excell, PowerPoint).
